I was born and raised in Savannah, Georgia and attended the Lamar Dodd School of Art at the University of Georgia. I earned a BFA in Art Education, with concentrations in Painting and Ceramics. I can remember loving art in all forms even as a little girl. I danced, I crafted with my Grandmother, I drew and painted pictures any chance I got, I even remember re-arranging furniture and constantly re-decorating my bedroom. I did anything I could do to bring more beauty to my life, so art was an obvious passion from the beginning.
During my college years, I was fortunate to study in Cortona, Italy for two semesters where I fell further into my interests. It was during my first semester in Italy that I began to take my painting seriously and commited to what I hope will be a life long pursuit. I guess I owe a little thanks to Italy, because in adoration of it's natural beauty I was reminded of another naturally beautiful place...home. The nostalgia of a low country life was never far from my mind.
Growing up in a coastal community has had an immeasurable influence on my life and my art. It's not difficult to find inspiration from the individual parts that make up this beautiful corner of the world. I work mostly from my photographs or direct observation of found objects. I paint what I see so that I can bring the beauty of the elements into my home and the homes of others. Thanks for visiting my site. I hope you enjoy what you see!
